Term 2 Week 12 Notices

We have made it to the last week of our first term together! Thank you for all your support this term. We started with 8 children and now have 17 in Kakano 7. Everyone is working so hard and I really look forward to seeing their smiling faces every morning.

This week is another busy week, with lots to fit in.

Tuesday - Library Day bring your books back so you can get new ones for the holidays.

Bake Sale TUESDAY
The middle school students are holding a bake sale at morning tea time on Tuesday. If you would like your child to buy something for morning tea I will take the children over to Room 15 during morning tea. Items are usually 50c or $1.

School photos WEDNESDAY
School photos are on Wednesday. All students must be in the correct school uniform. Girls will be wearing their dresses and skivvies while the boys need to be wearing their knitted jersey over their skivvy. No polar fleeces will be worn in the photo. (we usually have a few spare jerseys if needed for the photos)

PTA SCHOOL DISCO!!!! THURSDAY
Thursday night from 5:30 - 7PM! Children are to be dropped off at the hall doors and picked up promptly from the hall doors by 7PM. Entry is free however there will be food and drink items that can be purchased at the disco. Parents are welcome to stay with their children during the disco.

Friday - sausage sizzle/juicy day $1.50 each.

Holiday Reading Log
During the school holidays, your child gets a chance to take part in the school holiday reading competition. Reading logs will be sent home this week. Please record all of the books you read during the holidays and bring back to school next term. It includes books your child reads and also books you read to your child. This will ensure your child is in the running for the reading log draw to win great prizes early next term.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday afternoon.

Term 2 Week 11

Hi everyone,
We had another busy week in Kakano 7, there never seems to be enough hours to fit in all that we want to get done.  I am so proud of all the children, they are working so hard and it is great to see the progress they are making.
Tomorrow we welcome Bradley and Zinelly into Kakano 7.
Things you need to know for this week:
  • School starts at 8:45, please make sure your child is at school by this time.   If they are late they need to go to the office as they will be marked Late on the roll.
  • Library Day is Tuesday - bring those books back so you can get new ones.
  • Sausage Sizzle and Juicies can be purchased on Friday ($1.50 each).
  • It is still important for our children to maintain good hygiene.  We still clean surfaces throughout the day and ask the children to sanitise their hands. If your child is unwell they need to stay at home so we do not have germs being spread around the classroom.

Thank you for all your support,

Term 2 Week 10 Notices

Hi everyone,
We had a fabulous week this week and everyone enjoyed making pancakes with our preschool visitors on Friday. There was lots of whipped cream, jam, and sprinkles to make our pancakes extra yummy!!

Tomorrow we welcome Brianna, Charles, Sage, and Harvey to our class.

A reminder that due to the lockdown our term has changed and although it is now week 10, we still have 3 weeks to go as it is a 12-week term! The children have all been coping so well at school and we encourage you to keep up all of the great support at home to ensure a smooth finish to this long term.

As we are in level 1 now a number of our school routines are back to normal. School for ALL year groups starts at 8:45am. The morning roll is completed at this time so please, if you are late, sign in at the office on your way in to make sure your child has been marked present for the day. The school gates are open from 8:15am for students to start being dropped off. The teachers have been so proud of the students coming into class on their own so confidently! We congratulate you as parents for teaching them this independence.

Thank you for keeping your children at home if they are unwell. We are still working hard to keep good hygiene a priority in Kakano. You can help us by making sure your children are able to wipe their own noses if they are feeling sniffly and by coughing/sneezing into their elbows. Our children are already very good at sanitizing their hands where appropriate.

On Friday we have a liturgy in the hall at 9AM. Our school masses in the church are not going ahead yet but we will still be coming together as a school to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

Library Day is Tuesday - don't forget to bring your library books back so you can get new ones!!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Visiting the Library

Tuesday is Library Day and we are loving going to the library to choose new books each week.  Miss Kay read us a book today and we all listened very carefully.

Golden Time

Golden Time is a special and fun time on Friday afternoon when the children get rewarded for having good behaviour during the week.  The class comes up with some ideas for Golden time and then the children vote on what one they would like to do. Here are some photos from our first three weeks of Golden Time.
Our First Golden Time
The children wrote a letter to Mrs Holmes to ask her if she could bring her dog Roman to see the class.

Our 2nd Golden Time
Room 14 invited us to their classroom to read stories to us and then they made a delicious afternoon tea.  Thank you Room 14.

Our 3rd Golden Time
We 'baked' an icecream cake to celebrate the Queen's birthday.  We all had a candle in our piece of cake to blow out and we sang Happy Birthday to the Queen.  We found out she is 94.  We couldn't believe that she is nearly 100.
